Harare/Chitungwiza Regional campus launches Scripture Union Chapter

The Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) Harare/Chitungwiza Regional Campus took the lead and launched their Scripture Union Chapter at their Main Post Office Campus this week.

The move, an initiative of the Student representative Council (SRC), with the help of Student Advisors and other staff members at the Regional Campus, the Chapter was successfully launched on Wednesday afternoon.

Masvingo Regional Campus wins the Best University Stand award

The Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) Masvingo Regional Campus won gold at the just ended Masvingo Agricultural Show held from 28 September to 1 October 2017 for being the University that had the best exhibition stand. The Campus was presented with a floating trophy.

The 78th edition of the show ran under the theme; “Transforming and Sustaining Economic Growth”.

ZOU Students to take part in two Debate Championships

The Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) through the Centre for Student Management (CSM) will in December send a group of students selected from different Regional Campuses to take part in two different debate competitions.

The Director of Center for Student Affairs, Professor David Chakuchichi said the two debate Championships were the remaining big events on the students’ calendar after the Vice Chancellor’s Games were successfully held in Mutare.

I welcome you all to Zimbabwe Open University- one of the finest universities in the region and beyond that provides an opportunity to learn and work at the same time. When I say I am a former ZOU student, I say it with pride and confidence because the university has helped not only me, but a lot of us to realise our dreams.

ZOU SPICED THE 2017 HARARE CARNIVAL

Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) through its Harare/Chitungwiza Regional Campus joined the nation and participated in this year’s Carnival.  

The idea behind the participation was to make the brand ZOU visible by parading the winners of the Miss ZOU Pageant which was held in Mutare recently during the Vice Chancellors’ games.

Available was the incoming Miss ZOU, Charity Mahombera, Second Princess, Privilege Musvanhise and Miss Personality, Makaita Saita.

Manicaland Regional Campus wins VC’s Games

For the first time Manicaland Regional Campus made use of home advantage to scoop the overall first prize of the fifth edition of the Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) Vice Chancellor’s Games which they hosted in Mutare this week.

The Regional Campus dominated most of the sporting events which saw them amassing at total of eight gold medals ahead of powerhouses Bulawayo and Harare, who scooped seven and six gold medals respectively.

Harare/Chitungwiza Regional Campus dominate Miss ZOU pageant

Practise makes perfect, goes an old saying, true to the statement. The Harare/Chitungwiza Regional Campus which successfully hosted the Miss ZOU Harare beauty pageant on 11 March this year took the form to Manicaland Province where they dominated the Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) Vice Chancellor’s Games beauty pageant last week.

This was the first time in the history of the games that the event was hosted together with the music and culture night.

Vice Chancellor’s Games leave an indelible mark in Manicaland

The fifth edition of the Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) Vice Chancellor’s Games left an indelible mark in the border town of Mutare last week.

All the game  venues  including Sakubva Stadium were fully packed for the four days that the games were underway.

Addressing Mutare residents who had thronged Mutare town centre where the Mayor Councillor Tatenda Nhemarare addressed participants and the general public, the Mayor urged Mutare residents to further their education by studying with ZOU.

Acting VC Professor A.C. Ncube promises improved service delivery

The Zimbabwe Open University Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Alfred Champion Ncube officially opened and closed the fifth edition of the Vice Chancellor’s Games that were hosted by Manicaland Regional Campus in Mutare.

Professor Kabanda read the official opening and closing speeches on behalf of the Acting Vice Chancellor.

In his speech, Professor Ncube spoke about the need for ZOU to improve service delivery to the students which he said will help keep the University at the same level with other Universities.

Association of African Universities Honours ZOU

The Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) was honoured by the Association of African Universities (AAU) through an African Quality Rating Mechanism (AQRM) evaluation visit held in Harare in June this year.

ZOU is the only University in Zimbabwe that took part in the exercise, as well as the only Open and Distance Learning (ODL) University that joined 14 other Universities on the African continent.
