The planned dinner dance rolled into life at Bulawayo Holiday Inn on the 6th of October 2017 under the theme ‘Strengthening Partnerships for Academic Institutions’ Self Sustainability’.
The ZOU family was humbled by the response it got from the Bulawayo business community, which reacted positively to the call for improvement of service delivery by the Zimbabwe Open University Bulawayo Regional Campus. Among the list of attendees were, CBZ, Eduloan, Old Mutual, First Mutual, Telone, Econet, Zimdef, Zilch Investments, Datlabs, Founders High School, Christian Brothers College, Theological College of Zimbabwe, POSB, Amtec, ZOU SRC and staff.
Speaking at the event the guest speaker Mr. Obert Sibanda (Board Member of National Employment Council of Construction Industry and ZOU, MBA graduate) applauded ZOU for playing an important role in the development of human capital in Zimbabwe, SADC, Africa and beyond. ZOU students improve productivity at their respective workstations by practicing things they have learnt immediately, hence employers are implored to take advantage extended to them by the Zimbabwe Open University mode of learning which allows working and learning at once. He applauded ZOU for its quest to restore hope to those who lost opportunities to attend conventional Universities. Many have now acquired degree qualifications through ZOU even at their twilight ages.
The Director, Academic Registry Mrs. Margaret Munyoro gave the vote of thanks. The Resident Minister of Bulawayo Metropolitan Province, Honorable Eunice Sandi Moyo was among the guests.
