The Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) Virtual Campus participated at the Swaziland International Careers Expo 2019 which ran from 12 – 14 March 2019 at U-Tech College in Ubombo region. The expo was hosted by U-Tech College in partnership with Careers Exhibition & Information Association (CEIA). Marketing the ZOU brand internationally were Mrs Shingirirayi Moyo, the Acting Manager and Ms Teurai Chiriseri, the Acting Administration Officer.
Utech college is the ZOU Swaziland examination centre. The delegation also showcased ZOU products at Manzini exhibition. Manzini is the second largest city in the Kingdom of Eswatini. Prospective students were excited by the opportunity to interface with the ZOU Virtual Campus representatives. The Virtual Campus team also met the current students in Swaziland. During the expo six students managed to apply for 2nd semester 2019.
The Virtual team held a meeting with Mananga Centre Senior Management led by the Director, Dr. R. Taruvinga. The meeting’s thrust was to explore how ZOU could increase its presence and enrolment in Swaziland. ZOU and Mananga Centre have an existing relationship. In the near future MoUs between ZOU and Mananga Centre may be signed in the following areas: establishment of a ZOU learning centre, the University becoming an external examiner in the following programmes Business Management, Marketing and Human Resources, scholarships for ZOU Swaziland Students from the government of Swaziland. Lastly Eswatini kingdom has a lot of prospective students who may want to study with ZOU.
