Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development Minister, Professor dr Amon Murwira and the Permanent Secretary, Professor Fanuel Tagwira, engaged with the Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) Senate and Council on 26 November 2018.

The Minister emphasized that the University should work hard in transforming knowledge into goods and services. He added that team spirit was imperative to achieve the transformation.

Professor Murwira unpacked the University mandate as anchored by the 5 pillars namely; teaching, research, community development, innovation and industrialisation.

In this regard, it becomes imperative that, moving forward, ZOU plans and strategiesmust centre on the national strategy on science, technology and innovation in order for the University to contribute meaningfully to the development of a “super smart Zimbabwean society”.
