The Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Alfred Ncube attended the 20th ACDE Programme Steering Committee and the 36th ACDE Executive Board meetings that were held from 3 to 4 September 2018 at the University of South Africa (UNISA), in the Bamboo Auditorium, Kgorong Building, Preller Street at the UNISA Main Campus, Pretoria South Africa. The last ACDE Meetings were held in Beira, Mozambique, in March 2018.
Highlights at the meetings included the exchange of ideas that are meant to improve practices in ODL and e-learning. The Acting Vice Chancellor also took time to discuss collaboration opportunities in various areas such as the sharing of learning materials (modules) as well as sharing human resources and infrastructure where possible. The Acting Vice Chancellor met some of ZOU’s international partners to consolidate relationships. For example, the Zimbabwe Open University has started benefitting from the relationships with the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) and Kenyatta University. Such meetings provide the necessary interaction platforms and Vice Chancellors grab this golden opportunity to get to know more about other institutional members’ strengths and capacities for purposes of cooperation in areas of interest.
