Zimbabwe Open University to Host UPLIFT Agriculture Conference in Nyanga
Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) is proud to announce that it will be hosting the Universities Promoting Linkages for Impactful Training (UPLIFT) Agriculture Project Meeting from the 5th to the 7th of March 2025 in Nyanga. This pivotal conference aims to highlight the achievements of the project to date and set the roadmap for future initiatives.
The UPLIFT project focuses on enhancing agricultural curricula by analyzing current content and identifying areas for improvement. It brings together a consortium of prestigious universities from Africa and Europe, including:
- Zimbabwe: Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) and Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT)
- Kenya: Kenyatta University, Chuka University, and Taita Taveta University
- Rwanda: University of Rwanda and University of Lay Adventists of Kigali
- Burundi: University of Ngozi and University of Burundi
Funded by the European Union with a budget of €789,900, the project is set to span three years. Notably, €51,833 has been allocated for ZOU’s in-country activities, reflecting the university’s central role in driving impactful agricultural education.
Ahead of the meeting, ZOU was honored to host distinguished guests Dr. Andrea Landi from Copenhagen University and Prof. Nico Carsten, who paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor on the 3rd of March 2025. They were accompanied by Professor Chris Chiome and Professor Tichaona Mapolisa.
