Masters of Commerce in Marketing Strategy

By the end of the programme, the graduate will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a grounded marketing professional who has an in-depth thrust of applying the principles, concepts, and theoretical frameworks of marketing and empirical issues pertaining to the marketing practice.
  • Synthesize and integrate the knowledge and skills learned across the learning materials and at work, so that each reinforces the other.
  • Manage contemporary challenges faced by marketing practitioners in this highly competitive world of business and provide situational solutions.
  • Withstand the enduring journey for doctoral studies in areas in which the individual, the Zimbabwean government, and society have an interest.

The minimum duration for the degree shall be two years (4 semesters), and the maximum shall be four years (8 semesters).

 

For admission to the degree programme, a candidate must have satisfied the minimum conditions for entry to post graduate studies at the Zimbabwe Open University as prescribed under the entry requirements in the General Academic Regulations for post graduate degrees.

 

Specifically, a candidate must have

  • A minimum of a relevant Marketing Degree from a recognised university or its equivalent.
  • As part of the selection process, applicants may be interviewed or given a selection test.

 

EXEMPTION QUALIFICATIONS

  • A student may, in approved cases, be exempted from certain courses provided that the student has successfully completed approved degree courses elsewhere and that the student shall be required to complete at least three quarters (75%) of the programme through Zimbabwe Open University.
  • The student may be exempted in accordance with the General Regulations or have an equivalent university entry qualification.

The curriculum for the Master of Commerce in Marketing Strategy comprises ten (12) examinable courses and a supervised dissertation.

The student is expected to accumulate a minimum of 15 courses (270 credit points) and a dissertation (90 credit points) to be considered to have met the requirements of the Master of Commerce in Marketing Strategy programme.
