Welcome To Zimbabwe Open University Midlands Campus
Welcome to the Yolk of Zimbabwe, the Midlands Regional Campus. The Midlands Regional Campus is situated at 16 Victory Road, Gweru East, Gweru. The Regional Campus is opposite Gweru General Hospital’s main gate, turn to the right into Princess Street and then left into Elizabeth Avenue, about 200 metres from Princess Street, is our main gate. The Midlands Region stretches from as far as Musume in Mberengwa district to the south to Vumba in Gokwe North district to the north. We are lucky to serve this region which is home to a variety of indigenous groups such as the Tonga, the Shangwe, the Karanga and the Ndebele. This presents a unique opportunity for both students and educators to interact and share experiences. They can tap into these cultures to learn more about the history and heritage of this country. In order to improve access to our current and prospective students as well as stakeholders, we have established district service centres in Zvishavane, Gokwe South and Gokwe North districts, manned by highly qualified and enthusiastic personnel.
ZVISHAVANE DISTRICT SERVICE CENTRE
This service centre is located in Zvishavane town in the ZIMPOST Building, Cnr Godard & Robert Mugabe Way. This gives the people of Zvishavane and Mberengwa an alternative mode of ODL university education. ZOU has brought a variety of learning programmes that will allow them to earn as they learn, in the comfort of their homes.
GOKWE SOUTH DISTRICT SERVICE CENTRE
The service centre is located at Office No 20, AgriBank Building, Gokwe Town Centre. ZOU has brought university education to the door steps of the people of Gokwe town and its surrounding communities. There is no doubt that the ZOU delivery mode, the ODL, will match their needs and pattern of life.
GOKWE NORTH DISTRICT SERVICE CENTRE
The service centre is located at Gokwe North Community centre, Nembudziya. This service centre gives hope to the people of Gokwe North and the surrounding areas. These are the people who cannot access either Gokwe South, Kadoma or Karoi. This makes Gokwe North deeply embedded on the boundaries of the said districts. The people of Gokwe North can now avoid long and rough roads to Gweru and Chinhoyi in search of university education as they now have a ZOU service and e-learning centre at Nembudziya. For the people of Nembudziya and the outlying communities; ZOU has come, and has come to stay. Let us work together to shape our future. Our experiences together should inspire us to come up with academic programmes that ensure the survival and continuity of our culture, and impart appropriate skills that will address our needs efficiently and effectively
